From the Control4 website: “While there are many smart products available today, it isn’t until these devices work together in orchestration, that you experience the magic of a smart home.

“From homes small to large, new and old, Control4 delivers power and performance on one platform that coordinates the technology in your house into complete, brilliant experiences—interactions that fit your lifestyle and are easy for your family to enjoy. With one touch, dim the lights, stream high-resolution music, turn up the heat, lock the doors and arm the security system. Or, check in on your home no matter where you are. It’s a smarter living experience that you’ll wonder how you ever lived without. We call it, the New Normal.”

Yale Smart Living

Under its Smart Living brand Yale develops innovative smart locks, alarms, CCTV sytsems and other security products for the connected home.

A recent survey by Yale, an ASSA ABLOY brand, found that 67% of consumers with domestic alarms would like to control them from their smartphone.

Speaking to IFSEC Global recently Omer Sagi, smart door locks director at ASSA ABLOY EMEA, said: “We believe compatibility will be a key feature of the residential smart lock market, too, so our locks are built to support multiple standards.

“The new Yale locks, for example, can integrate with Samsung’s SmartThings platform. We also support Zigbee, so our locks just plug-and-play in that ecosystem.

“Integration plans go further. In early 2016, Yale announced they were working with AT&T providing Keyless Connected and Keyfree Connected locks in the O2 smart home ecosystem.

“Scheduled for launch later in 2016, the Yale Linus is a smart lock that works with the Google-owned Nest platform. It will join the growing Works with Nest ecosystem, alongside products from Whirlpool, Phillips and Lutron. In Germany, energy company RWE have just started selling our ENTR™ lock. Interoperability will be a key driver in this market, without doubt, and that’s in the DNA of our entire smart-lock range.”

LILIN

In the company’s own words: “Our award-winning products are deeply integrated with many leading home automation companies; including AMX, Crestron, Control4, Elan, RTI, Savant Systems and URC, allowing full control of recording solutions and security cameras. This straightforward integration is only possible through LILIN’s commitment to the CI market, resulting in a smart, stable, reliable, convenient and efficient home solution for the user.

LILIN were the first to the market with control system integration and still lead the way by a considerable margin. We make integration very simple, integration drivers provide full, two-way integration with leading control solutions for all compatible network cameras, as well as one-way control of DVRs/NVRs. We control all the drivers ourselves so that integration keeps working seamlessly.

“On display at IFSEC will be our new NVRs, a plug-n-play, cost-effective video surveillance system. The NVRs are all 16 channel with three models available capable of recording 100, 200 and 400 frames per second (fps) at full HD 1080p resolution. The all-important ‘rack look’ is finished in high gloss black with no front panel controls, designed for the CI market. Come and have a look at how easily a home owner can now view and control their surveillance from the comfort of their living room.

“Also on display will be our new surveillance cameras. With a model to suit every application including internal and external ranges, PTZ, vandal proof, IR there is also a wide range of chassis to suit almost any surveillance need.

“With our deep integration, users can select cameras or a NVR using the control system interface from the comfort of their armchair, switching between live or recorded video.”

Nest

Acquired by Google for $32bn in 2014 Nest Labs is arguably the most famous home automation brand on the market.

The Silicon Valley company developers programmable, self-learning, sensor-driven, Wi-Fi-enabled thermostats, smoke detectors and other security systems for the smart or connected home. It’s first product, launched in 2011, was the Nest Learning Thermostat, followed since by the Nest Protect smoke and carbon monoxide detector and the Nest Cam, rebranded from Dropcam after the latter was acquired in 2013.

The Nest Learning Thermostat is an electronic, programmable, and self-learning Wi-Fi-enabled thermostat that optimizes heating and cooling of homes and businesses to conserve energy.[18] It is based on a machine learning algorithm: for the first weeks users have to regulate the thermostat in order to provide the reference data set. Nest can then learn people’s schedule, at which temperature they are used to and when. Using built-in sensors and phones’ locations it can shift into energy saving mode when it realizes nobody is at home.[19]

Dropcam. Features are a 1080p video resolution, a rotating, magnetic stand, night vision, two-way talk, sound and motion alerts and optional Nest Aware cloud services for an additional fee.

Speaking about the Nest Protect recently, Nest general manager for Europe Lionel Paillets said: “The Nest Protect alarm redefines what people should expect from their smoke and carbon monoxide (CO) alarms. It is the first residential alarm to offer a custom, split-spectrum sensor that uses two wavelengths of light to look for different types of fires – both fast burning fires as well as slow smoldering fires.

“It can also give you a friendly heads-up before it has to sound the alarm and you can hush it with your phone. In case you’re not home, Nest Protect alerts your phone when the alarm goes off or the batteries run low.

“It also gives you peace of mind by testing itself over 400 times a day and showing you everything is working with a quick green glow when you turn off the lights.”

Smart thermostats like this one from Nest Labs have the potential to cut energy bills
